In this unit, you will develop transport engineering design solutions by integrating knowledge from transport engineering, highway systems, infrastructure planning, geotechnical and environmental considerations, and other relevant disciplines. Emphasis is placed on compliance with industry standards and the application of sustainable transport engineering practices.
As a design-based unit undertaken in the second semester of your third year, this subject challenges you to apply concepts from highway systems, infrastructure and environmental engineering, project planning, risk management, systems thinking and problem-solving to real-world transport engineering scenarios.
Through engagement with innovative design methodologies, you will refine your technical communication skills by producing detailed water engineering design documentation and professional presentations. This unit bridges theoretical knowledge with practical applications in water engineering while incorporating sustainable practices, respect for First Nations peoples’ insights, and adherence to regulatory standards to ensure socially responsible and impactful engineering outcomes.
