How to apply

If you are a Year 11 or 12 student studying VCE, VCE Vocational Major, Unscored VCE or an International Baccalaureate in Victoria, you are eligible for VU Early Entry. Follow these steps to apply!

1. Prepare your application

When you apply, you'll answer questions about who you are – tell us what makes you unique! For more tips, read our guide below.

2. Submit your application

Submit your application and you'll hear back from us within 7 days.

3. Apply to VU

You will need to include your desired VU course as your highest eligible preference on your VTAC preference list (so make sure it's up to date!), or apply directly if it is an apply-direct course.

Tips to help you prepare

As part of the application, you'll be asked to tell us a little about yourself by answering the following questions:

Why do you want to study at VU?
How do you contribute to your community, school or family?
Who inspires you to succeed?
How would studying at VU help you to make a difference in the world?

We are looking for applicants who embody the values of Victoria University: progressive, forward-thinking, inclusive and bold! We recommend trying to incorporate these values into your responses.

Allow yourself at least 20 minutes to write your responses.

The application process

: You will receive the outcome of your VU Early Entry application within seven days via email. 
If you haven't heard from us after seven days, please check your junk email and reach out to  [email protected] .
: Congratulations!
To be considered for a place in a VU course, you will still need to apply for a place in your preferred course(s) at VU or VU TAFE. All of VU’s bachelor courses and some VU TAFE courses need to be applied for through VTAC during VTAC’s application/preferencing periods. Some VU TAFE courses can only be applied for directly through the VU website.
To be offered a place in a VU course you need to meet the admission requirements for the course(s) you apply for. If you don’t, you’ll have the opportunity to speak with a dedicated VU Early Entry course advisor to help you make the next best choice for you depending on your Year 12 results.
If a course reaches capacity, and VU is unable to offer an otherwise eligible student a place in a preferred course, VU will also provide suggestions of an alternative course.
: Don’t worry! If you're not successful the first time around, we'll be in touch to give you some advice on crafting your application.
: VU Early Entry applications close on 13 October at 10pm AEST. 
We will not be able to consider any applications submitted after this date, including applications that were started but not completed.
: Yes! You can still apply for VU Early Entry as a VCE Vocational Major or Unscored VCE student.
While you will not be eligible to receive the bonus ATAR points or a Conditional Offer, you will still have access to the other benefits of the program, including:

: If you applied for VU Early Entry as a Year 11 student in 2024, you don't need to do anything!
You will be eligible to receive all the same membership perks as students who apply for VU Early Entry this year and be considered for the scholarships based on your 2024 application answers.

Preferences, offers & prerequisites

: If you are completing scored VCE and are in Year 12, you are eligible to receive a Conditional Offer for a VU bachelor course of your choosing.
To receive a Conditional Offer, add a VU course to your VTAC preference list. You will receive a Conditional Offer for your highest VU bachelor course preference.*
If you apply before 29 September (the close of VTAC timely preference) and have a VU bachelor course added to your VTAC preference list, you can expect your Conditional Offer by 10 October.
If you apply after 29 September and have a VU bachelor course added to your VTAC preference list, you can expect your Conditional Offer by 24 October. For full dates and details about VTAC preferencing, check out our rundown here.
You will only receive one Conditional Offer.
If you are no longer interested in the VU course you receive your Conditional Offer for, that’s no problem! When it comes to offers, VU will always go off your VTAC preference list so make sure your dream course is at the top of the list.
*Conditional Offers are not a full course offer – you’ll still need to meet all other criteria such as ATAR and study score requirements. Note: Bachelor of Education (P-12) and Bachelor of Education (Primary) are excluded from Conditional Offers.
: If you are applying through VTAC, you will only get offered a course at VU if VU is your highest eligible preference and you are eligible for that course.

: Yes. As a VU Early Entry member, you must meet the study score requirements and/or other entry requirements for any VU course you apply for.
If you are a scored VCE student, your five bonus ATAR points will automatically be added to your ATAR.
: VCE Vocational Major and Unscored VCE students are eligible to apply for VU TAFE courses. Many of our TAFE courses have pathways into our bachelor courses, allowing you to start with a certificate or diploma and progress right through to postgraduate study. 
Some VU TAFE courses can be applied for through VTAC. If a VU TAFE course is listed in VTAC, you must apply through VTAC. For others, you will need to apply through the relevant course page.

Everything else

: By submitting a VU Early Entry application, you agree to receive information and communications from VU about your application and VU courses you apply for.
When making your VU Early Entry application you may opt-out of receiving marketing communications that are unrelated to your VU Early Entry application and course applications.
If you are offered a VU Early Entry membership, VU may ask you to consent to the disclosure, publication and dissemination of your name and likeness for VU’s advertising and marketing purposes relating to VU Early Entry. VU will always ask for your permission before using your personal information for these purposes.
: By submitting a VU Early Entry application, you agree to VU sharing your responses with your school.
You can consent for VU to share your personal details with ATARNotes+ for the purpose of creating your free ATARNotes+ study account. This consent can be withdrawn at any time.
: You will receive an email directly from ATARNotes+ within seven days of your acceptance into the VU Early Entry program. This email will include instructions on how to set up your membership.
Membership for ATARNotes+ is valued at $199 and is free for members of the VU Early Entry program.
: You will receive your gym pass in your VU Early Entry program acceptance by email.
Your pass is valid for you and a friend for 30 visits and can be used up to 31 December 2025 at any of VU’s fitness centres.
: The VU Scholarship team will review your VU Early Entry program responses and award the VU Explorer, VU Early Entry Innovator Scholarship and the VU Early Entry Community Leader Scholarship based on this. 
VU Early Entry Achiever Scholarship will be based on your Year 12 results.
