Meet Peter van Vliet – VU Migration Law graduate

Peter's journey in migration law

Since graduating from Victoria University (VU) with a Graduate Diploma in Migration Law, Peter van Vliet has had an exciting career in migration law – from working in a migration firm to volunteering for Refugee Legal, sitting on the board of Settlement Services International and being appointed CEO of the Migration Institute of Australia.

Peter was drawn to migration law as the son of a migrant and by observing the powerful impact and contribution migrants have had to Australia. He is passionate about supporting the hard work that goes into supporting migration at the practitioner level, the government level and the society level. His belief is that Australia truly stands out as a successful multicultural society and a country that does migration and migration policy better than almost anywhere in the world.
